Barbecued pot roast


 Barbecued pot roast recipe in the beef category

 Recipe ingredients:

  • 1, 4 pounds, beef roast
  • 2 tablespoons fat
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1, 8 ounce, can tomato sauce
  • 3 medium onions, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1/4 cup catsup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Dash of hot pepper sauce

 Recipe method:

  • Brown meat in fat.
  • Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  • Add 1 cup water, tomato sauce, onion and garlic.
  • Cover and simmer 2 hours.
  • Add remaining ingredients.
  • Cover and continue cooking 1 1/2 hours longer or until tender, adding more water if necessary.
  • Remove meat and skim off excess fat from gravy.
