Kentucky butter cake


 Kentucky butter cake recipe in the cake category

 Recipe ingredients:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup buttermilk or sour milk
  • 1 cup butter, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs
  • Sauce:
    • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/3 cup butter
    • 3 tablespoons water
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

 Recipe method:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
  • Grease and flour a 12 cup Bundt pan or 10 inch tube pan.
  • In a large bowl, combine all cake ingredients.
  • Beat on low speed until moistened.
  • Beat for about 3 minutes at medium speed.
  • Pour batter into prepared pan.
  • Bake at 325 degrees F for 50 to 65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • In a small saucepan over low heat, combine sauce ingredients.
  • Cook just until butter melts, stirring occasionally. Do not bring to a boil.
  • Pierce the cake all over with a fork then pour the hot sauce over the warm cake.
  • Let stand 5 minutes, or until sauce is absorbed.
