Kentucky butter cake recipe in the cake category
Recipe ingredients:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup buttermilk or sour milk
- 1 cup butter, room temperature
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 4 large eggs
- Sauce:
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup butter
- 3 tablespoons water
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Recipe method:
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
- Grease and flour a 12 cup Bundt pan or 10 inch tube pan.
- In a large bowl, combine all cake ingredients.
- Beat on low speed until moistened.
- Beat for about 3 minutes at medium speed.
- Pour batter into prepared pan.
- Bake at 325 degrees F for 50 to 65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- In a small saucepan over low heat, combine sauce ingredients.
- Cook just until butter melts, stirring occasionally. Do not bring to a boil.
- Pierce the cake all over with a fork then pour the hot sauce over the warm cake.
- Let stand 5 minutes, or until sauce is absorbed.
