Oatmeal cake
Oatmeal cake recipe in the cake category
Recipe ingredients:
- 1 1/4 cups boiling water
- 1 cup raw oatmeal
- 1/2 cup, 1 stick, butter or margarine
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- Frosting:
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup cream or milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup, 1 stick, butter or margarine
- 1 cup pecans, chopped
- 1 cup coconut
Recipe method:
- Mix together water, oatmeal and butter or margarine in a bowl and let stand for 20 minutes.
- Add remaining ingredients and bake at 350 degrees F for about 35 minutes in a 13 x 9 inch pan.
- Frosting: Mix ingredients together and bring to a boil. Spread over cake while still warm. Put under broiler for a few minutes.
