Peanut butter cake


 Peanut butter cake recipe in the cake category

 Recipe ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 3/4 cup hot water
  • 1 cup peanut butter, smooth or chunky
  • Peanut butter icing:
    • 2 cups confectioners sugar
    • 1/2 cup, 1 stick, butter or margarine, softened
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1/4 cup milk
    • 1/2 cup peanut butter

 Recipe method:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Cream sugar, eggs, shortening and vanilla extract.
  • Add buttermilk, hot water and peanut butter.
  • Add dry ingredients.
  • Mix well until smooth, about 2 minutes.
  • Pour into prepared 13 x 9 inch cake pan.
  • Bake for 30 to 35 minutes.
  • Cool and frost.
  • Peanut butter icing: Cream all ingredients together until very smooth.
