Peanut butter cake recipe in the cake category
Recipe ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 cup shortening
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 3/4 cup hot water
- 1 cup peanut butter, smooth or chunky
- Peanut butter icing:
- 2 cups confectioners sugar
- 1/2 cup, 1 stick, butter or margarine, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
Recipe method:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Cream sugar, eggs, shortening and vanilla extract.
- Add buttermilk, hot water and peanut butter.
- Add dry ingredients.
- Mix well until smooth, about 2 minutes.
- Pour into prepared 13 x 9 inch cake pan.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes.
- Cool and frost.
- Peanut butter icing: Cream all ingredients together until very smooth.
