Red velvet cake


 Red velvet cake recipe in the cake category

 Recipe ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 cups vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa
  • 1, 2 ounce, bottle red food coloring
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk

 Recipe method:

  • Cream sugar and oil.
  • Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition.
  • Add baking soda salt, vinegar, cocoa, food coloring and vanilla extract.
  • Mix well.
  • Add flour alternately with buttermilk.
  • Pour into 3, 8 inch, well greased cake pans.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes or until done.
  • Frost with white icing.
