Shortcake recipe in the cake category
Recipe ingredients:
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 tablespoon shortening
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 cup milk
- Fresh strawberries
- Vanilla ice cream
Recipe method:
- Sift dry ingredients together and cut in shortening and butter.
- Add milk, mixing in well with a spoon.
- Pour mixture into an 8 inch pie plate.
- Dot with additional butter and sprinkle with additional sugar.
- Bake at 400 degrees F for 20 minutes.
- Serve warm topped with strawberries and vanilla ice cream.
