White mountain frosting recipe in the cake category
Recipe ingredients:
- 2 egg whites, unbeaten
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 5 tablespoons cold water
- 1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar or 1 teaspoon light corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Recipe method:
- Put egg whites, sugar, water and cream of tartar (or corn syrup) in top of double boiler and mix thoroughly.
- Place over rapidly boiling water and beat constantly with rotary egg beater until mixture will hold a peak, about 7 minutes.
- Remove from heat. Add vanilla extract. Beat until cool and thick enough to spread.
