 White mountain frosting recipe in the cake category

 Recipe ingredients:

  • 2 egg whites, unbeaten
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 5 tablespoons cold water
  • 1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar or 1 teaspoon light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


 Recipe method:

  • Put egg whites, sugar, water and cream of tartar (or corn syrup) in top of double boiler and mix thoroughly.
  • Place over rapidly boiling water and beat constantly with rotary egg beater until mixture will hold a peak, about 7 minutes.
  • Remove from heat. Add vanilla extract. Beat until cool and thick enough to spread.
