Tamale pie
Tamale pie recipe in the mexican category
Recipe ingredients:
- 2 pound ground beef
- 12 ounce tomatoes
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano
- 3 1/2 ounce (1/2 7 ounce can) green chilies
- Topping:
- 1 cup grated mild cheese
- 1/2 cup cornmeal
- 1/2 cup unbleached flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- Dash salt
- 2 teaspoon oil
- 2 teaspoon sugar, optional
- 1/2 cup milk
- Other half green chilies
Recipe method:
- Brown meat in skillet.
- Add remaining ingredients and simmer 20 minutes.
- Pour into a casserole.
- Top with cheese.
- Mix rest of ingredients together and pour over the top of meat and cheese.
- Bake at 375 degrees F for 30 minutes or until topping is done.
