Mincemeat recipe



Recipe for mincemeat in our easy vegetarian recipes collection.

Recipe ingredients

  • 1 pound cooking apples, peeled, cored and finely chopped
  • 8 ounces shredded vegetable suet
  • 12 ounces sultanas
  • 16 ounces dried apricots
  • 12 ounces soft dark brown sugar
  • Grated rind and juice of 2 oranges
  • Grated rind and juice of 2 lemons
  • 2 ounces whole almonds, slivered
  • 4 teaspoon mixed spice
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Half a nutmeg, grated
  • 6 tablespoons vegan brandy

How to make mincemeat

  • Mix all ingredients, except the brandy, together in a bowl.
  • Cover and leave for 12 hours.
  • To prevent fermentation place the mincemeat in a 225 degrees F oven for 3 hours.
  • Then allow to cool and stir in brandy.
  • Put in clean jars and seal.
