Pecan pie recipe
Recipe for pecan pie in the vegetarian recipes category.
Recipe ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups pastry
- 4 tablespoons butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 3 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- 1 cup pecan halves
- Whipped cream
Recipe method:
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
- Line a 8 inch tin with the chosen pastry.
- Prick and bake blind for 10 minutes.
- Meanwhile, make the filling.
- Beat the butter together with the honey and syrup until smooth.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs and vanilla essence thoroughly with a wire or rotary whisk.
- Pour in the syrup, beating constantly with a fork.
- Scatter the nuts evenly over the pastry base and pour the custard over.
- Bake in the middle of the oven for 10 minutes.
- Reduce the heat to 325 degrees F.
- Bake for a further 25 to 35 minutes until the filling is set, but not dry.
- Serve warm, but not hot, or cold with whipped cream.
